About
I sell houses here. This is why I moved to REAL.
I'm Cam Avery. Before real estate I worked in carpentry and sales, renovating classic New England homes, which is still how I look at a house: what's behind the walls, what it would take to fix, and what it's worth once you do.
I got licensed in 2018, won Rookie of the Year in my first year, and built a business in southern Maine and Seacoast New Hampshire around one idea: show people what living here is actually like. That became Live the Seacoast, the region's largest real estate YouTube channel, and Avery Realty Group, the team I lead. I invest in property myself, and I live here with my wife and our two kids.
The jump
Running a team changes how you read a brokerage. You stop asking what it costs you and start asking what it costs everyone on your roster, what tools they'll actually run their business on, and whether the company is built for the next ten years or the last thirty.
I started in 2018 at a small local brokerage on a low split, which taught me the business and taught me to read a commission statement. In 2020 I moved to Keller Williams for the training and the systems, and I'm grateful for both stops. But by 2023 I'd stopped using the office, my team ran from laptops, and the software I was paying for through a franchise structure was years behind what a cloud brokerage was shipping. I'd decided cloud brokerages were where the industry was going. The question was which one.
Real won on three things. A flat, published fee schedule that was the same for every agent in every state. Technology built in-house, so my team's transactions, broker review and payouts live in one system. And revenue share paid out of Real's own split, so that agents I'd helped bring over could be an income line rather than a favor. In January 2024 I moved the team.
Nearly two years on, the fees have gone up a little, the technology has gone up a lot, and the revenue share is real money with real conditions attached. All three of those are on this site with sources, because the videos I made about the move turned into the questions agents kept asking me, and this is where I answer them properly.
